Free online chess clock
A game clock for chess, xiangqi and any two-player board game, running straight in the browser. Pick 3|2, 5|0, 10|5 or set your own time, with Fischer increment per move. Nothing to install, no account, and two people can share one phone or laptop.
Tap your own clock after you move and the time passes to your opponent. Space also switches turns, P pauses.
How to use it
- Pick a preset, or hit Custom to set your own minutes and per-move increment.
- Press Start. The clock of the player to move starts running.
- After you move, tap your half of the screen; the clock passes to your opponent and your increment is added.
- Pause stops the game, Reset puts both clocks back to the starting time.
What Fischer increment means
A Fischer increment adds a fixed number of seconds to the clock of the player who just moved, straight after every move. The notation 3|2 means three minutes each plus two seconds a move.
That extra time keeps games from being decided by who can press the clock faster in a won position. In blitz, two seconds a move is usually enough to keep the endgame meaningful.
Which time control to pick
- 1|0 — bullet, a whole game inside two minutes.
- 3|2 — standard blitz, with enough time left for an endgame.
- 5|0 — the most familiar online blitz control.
- 10|5 — rapid, still room to calculate a few moves ahead.
- 15|10 — competition rapid, for a serious game that does not eat the afternoon.
Frequently asked questions
Does the clock keep running if the screen turns off?
It measures real elapsed time, so when you come back the time that passed is already deducted. Still, keep the screen awake during a game so nobody misses a move.
Can I use it for xiangqi or go?
Yes. The clock has no idea which game you are playing — two sides and a time control is all it needs.
Do I need an account?
No. The page runs entirely in your browser, sends nothing to a server and remembers nothing beyond your last time control.
